Yo, name's Ethan! Feel free to call me Dark Spyro Gaming, DSG, or PhYrE though!I'm a Christian Twitch streamer, competitive gamer, and all-around nerdy guy. I've been around on YouTube since 2015, but most of those videos are long gone now. Fast forward several years to 2020, when I got my start on Twitch! Around the same time, I was shooting my shot in competitive tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!While I no longer make YouTube videos, and my participation in eSports is extremely rare these days, my content on Twitch is still going strong! You can find me streaming a variety of games. It could be anything from platformers, to adventure, to RPGs, to fighting- the possibilities are limitless!Through it all, though, I wish to give glory to God. Jesus Christ is my Savior, and it's only thanks to Him that I'm where I am now. Praise be to God above, Christ is King! Every stream ends with "God bless," largely inspired by the late beloved painter Bob Ross doing the same at the end of every episode. So while I'm here having fun and enjoying myself on stream, and hopefully entertaining you guys no matter who you are or where you're from, I hope to be a light for Christ in the process!Regardless of why you're here or how you found me, I hope I've made a positive impact on you in some way!

My Mission

Why Do I Do What I Do?

Of course, I started streaming just for fun back in 2020. It was never anything crazy, but from the beginning, even back when I did YouTube, I wanted to be someone that anyone could watch and enjoy while they hopefully see me being a light for Christ in the process.What exactly is it that I believe?Put simply, I believe that God created this world, and that we as a sinful race need Him for salvation. Jesus Christ, His Son, paid the price for our sins on the cross so that we could be in heaven with Him someday.The Gospel of Christ is put simply in the third chapter of the book of John. Jesus said that one must be born again to enter into heaven. What does it mean to be born again? Jesus explained that to be born again is to accept Him in faith, to allow your heart and life to be changed by Him. Humanity is sinful, and sin always has a punishment. Therefore we were already condemned to hell. Jesus came to give us a way out if we would simply believe. In John 3:16, Jesus says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."God said that salvation is a free gift! "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9). But how do we accept this gift? It's as simple as placing your faith and trust in Him! We are saved by grace through faith!

What is the alticrux?

The Alticrux is the name of the symbol in DSG's logo! It was a symbol he created in 7th grade as a quick symbol to draw to remember things. It is a cross in the middle of two connected arches, with arrows pointing up and down. The arches represent hills and valleys, and the arrows represent the high and low points of life. The cross stands as a representation of Jesus, still with us in the middle of it all. It serves as a reminder that "In the middle of life's highs and lows, there is the cross."

PHOENIX FIRE

What is Phoenix Fire?

Phoenix Fire is a group that was initially made up of DSG, Iido, and Wiki, with Electra joining much later. The four of them form a Christian gaming group and team who stream together, voice act, and do events! Their symbol is a phoenix- a mythical creature seen as a symbol of rebirth. Just as a phoenix must be reborn, so must we be reborn through Jesus Christ!

Meet the Crew!

DSG | PhYrE

Ethan himself (me!), the leader and founder of the crew! Back in late 2021, I streamed Shadow of the Colossus with Iido and Wiki alongside me co-commentating. We had a ton of fun with it, and decided it was something we'd do more often. So we decided to band together and create our crew: Phoenix Fire!

Iido

Ethan's best friend- someone he considers as close as a brother! Iido's been very supportive of the channel and content for a long time, and often joins for co-op streams and gaming sessions! He also makes YouTube content- check it out below!

Wiki_Silence

The third member of the Phoenix Fire crew, Wiki! He's a very talented artist, and the vast majority of the art you see on this site and DSG's channel is drawn by him! He also helped DSG design the Phoenix Fire and Alticrux logos! If you'd like to check out his art or commission him, click below!

Electra

The fourth and final member of the team, Electra! During the Final Fantasy IX stream series, she joined us to voice some of the female characters in our goofy voice acting antics. She's a great close friend, and we had so much fun with it that she became an integral part of the group, and it wouldn't be the same without her!

Meet the Cast!

Below are Ethan's characters and cast you'll often see in his content! Some of them have stories planned, while others are mostly used for mascots or have simpler backstories. You'll just have to wait and see what may be done with these characters in the future!

Ethan

The persona of Ethan himself (me)! This is how I'm shown in art form, and it's quite literally an art version of the real me. This is the character used in almost all my promo art! To add to this, I also wield a pretty epic sword in many pics!

Kuraijin

Kuraijin is DSG's Umbreon companion! He's red-ringed, unlike the normal yellow, or blue in the case of a shiny. He's dark/fire type! Kuraijin is capable of producing flames and intense heat through his rings! He's fully capable of taking care of himself, but is super sweet to those he cares about. He's also the little brother of Iido's Glaceon OC, Tundra!

Tatsuo Akioka

Tatsuo grew up with a rough past, but doesn't let it hold him back. He's a cool and confident, and quite skilled with a sword. He's a masterful user of fire magic, and his sword is capable of channeling his fire into a great flaming blade! Despite his rougher and cooler nature, he's kind as can be, and will do anything to defend his friends. He's also dating Akari!

Akari Furukawa

Akari is an energetic and outgoing fox girl with a strong connection to nature. She's a healer, with magic capable of manipulating plant life around her. She's also very skilled at combat with a staff. She's incredibly sweet and cares far more about others than she does herself. She's a huge comfort to her friends and a great listener. She's also dating Tatsuo!

Faelynn

The little sister of Kuraijin and Tundra! She's a Sylveon with plant and flower aspects- grass/fairy type! Similarly to Akari, she's capable of manipulating plant life around her. She is in a relationship with Iido's male Sylveon OC, Arumi, and the two of them have adopted two young Eevees together!

Melody

The daughter of a mermaid and a human who grew up largely isolated from society. She found her cross necklace in an old shipwreck, where she learned much about humans and the world above the surface. While she's pretty shy most of the time, once she gets to know someone and grows to trust them, she can be quite playful.

Tomokazu

Tomokazu (nicknamed Tomo) lived in deep water, far down in the trenches where most people wouldn't dare to venture. It was simply his normal habitat, but he'd longed to learn more about the surface. This adventurous desire led him to meet Melody, who he eventually fell in love with. He's strong and adventurous, but he's secretly self-conscious about some things, especially his black and yellow eyes. He holds in a lot of emotional struggles, and sometimes has a timid personality.

Hurricane

Ethan's very first OC he ever created!
Hurricane is an electric and wind dragon who may be slightly overconfident. He loves the feeling of freedom and adventure, and enjoys flying around and exploring more than anything else. He's capable of creating strong storms of both wind and lightning!

About the Channel

Starting in September of 2020, I began streaming on Twitch! I used to do some YouTube content on occasion, but branched over to streaming instead. The viewer interaction feels far more gratifying than what I was getting from YouTube videos. I post my schedule for each week regularly on my socials and in my Discord!I stream a variety of games over there, and I've showcased some clips on this page if you'd like to see what I have to offer on my channel!

Welcome to the PhYrE side of things!

In 2020, I began doing tournaments in Super Smash Bros Ultimate! Prior to this, I was only known as Dark Spyro Gaming or some variant of it online, but at this time I decided to take on the name PhYrE. It became the side of me associated with Smash Bros and competitive gaming as a whole, and I began to use it alongside my DSG name, creating the name I use most online today, DSG | PhYrE.I've been in a fair share of tournaments overtime! Unfortunately, the site I use for tournament entries is not always reliable to show my standings in tournaments publicly- while most are there and available, access to some has been limited by the general public. Future Plans

As you can see, I did well in some tournaments, not so well in others, but never truly reached the level of skill I desired to reach. This and life situations pushed me away from doing tournaments, causing huge gaps between when I participated in them while allowing even more time for rust to grow. So, would I do more Smash tournaments in the future? Maybe, but I would far more so consider running Super Smash Bros (or maybe even some other games) themed events or tournaments in my own community. It would feel far more worth the time for me and friends, and would contribute to a better experience overall.If you have any feedback or ideas for this in the future, please contact me on one of the social media accounts below or click here to give feedback anonymously.
